Gurjit Mahil joined Medway NHS Foundation Trust as the Chief Operating Officer for the Planned Care Directorate in June 2018, and took on the role of Deputy Chief Executive in August 2019.
As Deputy Chief Executive, Gurjit is the Executive lead on performance with NHS Improvement/England, the Trust’s operational plan and strategies, commercial and legal, as well as leading the business intelligence and performance teams and IT.
Gurjit has worked in the NHS for the past 13 years. She has held a wide range of operational and business roles and has an extensive experience of operating and managing health services at a number of large acute trusts including Whittington Health, Kings College NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital. While at King’s College NHS Foundation Trust, Gurjit set up a new Advanced Day Case Surgery Centre with King’s College Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Gurjit has carried out a number of change and transformation projects, utilisation projects, efficiency programmes and patient experience projects within her time of working within healthcare, and is passionate about making every patient journey count. Gurjit has also developed staff training plans for key non clinical staff groups to ensure staff within teams are developed.
Gurjit has lived in Kent for a number of years, and Medway Maritime Hospital is the local hospital for many of her friends and family.
Gurjit has a BSc in Human Sciences and MSc in Health and Society from King’s College London (University of London) and completed an Executive MBA with Henley Business School.
