  • Professional profile:

I am a full time Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist of twenty years standing. My undergraduate training was at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School. Much of my early training was at The John Radcliffe in Oxford.

I spent two years as research fellow to Professors Rymer and Fogleman at Guy’s & St Thomas’ studying the consequences of oestrogen deficiency. I have received comprehensive training with excellent generalist experience. I maintain an active role in clinical teaching both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

I have completed a Masters with distinction in advanced gynaecological endoscopy at the University of Surrey and I am a champion for the development of a multidisciplinary minimal access centre in Kent. I have designed and deliver the Masters in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Gynaecology) at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Canterbury Christ Church University where I hold a visiting professorship. I have introduced a number of laparoscopic gynaecological procedures at Medway with a track record for Preceptorship of colleagues.  I am a National Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy trainer.

I have maintained special expertise in pelvic reconstructive surgery and have led the process of an integrated continence care pathway. I contribute to the rapid access and colposcopy service. I lead the infertility service.

I have a reputation of being a good team player, leading by example and effective collaboration. I am committed to promoting Medway Maritime Hospital as a centre of excellence for clinical care and training.

I have had the good fortune of working on a number of voluntary projects overseas.  These were in collaboration with charitable organisations including Friendship Lifebuoy in Bangladesh, Global Peace and Unity in Rwanda, Adventist Development Relief Agency in Uganda and Rotary International for the Collaborative Action to Lower Maternity Encountered Deaths initiative.  The work is extremely rewarding and lends important global perspective.
