In relation to the recent  nurses recruitment drive to the Philippines, of those offered jobs,

    • How many accepted/rejected the job- 241 nurse offered of which 202  remain engaged in the pre-engagement process
    • How many have taken up jobs with the trust and are now in post;- We anticipate the first cohort of Filipino nurse will commence in post this calendar year.
    • How many have accepted but not yet started?- 202 have accepted. However, our rigorous screening process is still underway to ensure that the candidates have excellent clinical skills and a very high standard of spoken and written English, so, as anticipated, it is likely that some of those nurses will unfortunately not reach the required pass rate set by the NMC.
    • Of those interviewed + offered jobs, how many subsequently failed the International English Language Testing System exam and were unable to take up positions in the trust? - To date 52 of the 59 candidates that have received their International English Language Testing System test results have failed.   All overseas candidates must complete the academic version of the IELTS test and are required to achieve a level of at least seven (out of a possible nine) in all categories - listening, reading, writing and speaking -  Many of the candidates achieved a level 7+ in 3 of the 4 tested domains. The failed candidates intend to re-sit the test.
    • Has the trust made any other recruitment activities for nurses from overseas since that trip? If so, please provide relevant details as above, including details on failures on the English test. The Trust is planning future EU and international campaigns.
    • How much is the trust paying the recruitment company assisting in recruitment; how much has it  has paid to date? The Trust procured the services of a Crown Commercial Services Framework provider to undertake this recruitment campaign.  In Line with the Framework terms and conditions  commercially sensitive information is kept confidential
