COVID-19: necessary changes to our visiting policy

Date: 20 March 2020

In order to protect our patients and staff from the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have put in place a policy to limit hospital visits.

From Friday 20 March 2020 visiting hours will only take place between 6pm and 8pm and we are asking the public to limit visiting patients to:

  • One named adult visitor per patient
  • Two parents or responsible carers/guardian per child, with more flexible visiting hours agreed with the ward manager
  • No children (under 16) to visit without prior agreement of the ward manager or nurse in charge
  • Women in labour will be allowed two birthing partners in labour
  • NICU only parents / guardians  of the baby to visit and visiting hours will be more flexible
  • Discretion will of course be applied on compassionate grounds by the nurse/midwife in charge, particularly in relation to patients with dementia and those who are at end of life

Should you require any further details or have questions/concerns, please speak to the ward manager.

If you have a new persistent cough or high temperature then please do not visit our hospital. For further advice please visit
