Keeping going in the snow!

It's another snowy day here at Medway Maritime Hospital. Despite this, we are working hard to continue to provide our full range of emergency and urgent care, including surgery, as well as planned procedures and outpatients appointments for cancer patients and other urgent cases. We are working closely with all of our health and care partners in Medway and Swale to ensure that as broad a range of services are available for our community as possible.

We are actively contacting patients who are affected by these short-term changes, and if they have not been contacted by the Trust should attend as planned. If any patients have any queries about their appointment, a dedicated hotline has been set up which they can call for more information: 01634 817032.

Patients are also advised that there may be reduced parking on site in the evenings and overnight while the weather remains challenging to accommodate the vehicles of staff who would ordinarily travel to work by public transport. While relatives will be able to visit patients as usual, we advise that relatives are ‘dropped off’ for and collected from their visit or to use other methods of travel rather than bringing cars onsite.

Members of the public are also reminded to consider the best treatment options for their individual conditions; a GP or pharmacist may be able to provide appropriate care and treatment and avoid an unnecessary trip to the Trust’s emergency department. Simply dialling 111 will put you through to the NHS 111 service, who will be able to advise you of the best options for your condition.
