Booking appointment

Your booking appointment will take place when you are roughly 8 to 10 weeks pregnant. At this appointment the midwife will gain information from you about your previous medical, mental health and social history, any relevant family history and previous pregnancies. Once the midwife has this information she is able to make a care plan for your pregnancy to ensure you have any specialist input needed. Listed below is the variety of specialist services your midwife may refer you onto as required:

  • Specialist Midwife for Mental Health
  • Smoking cessation services 
  • Windmill clinic- service for substance misuse
  • Anaesthetic team
  • Physiotherapy 
  • Specialist Midwife for Diabetes 
  • High Risk Midwife Practitioner

Screening in pregnancy

You will be offered screening tests for Downs Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormailities in early pregnancy. These tests will be explained to you fully by your midwife at your first appointment.
