How to book for midwifery services at Medway

First steps

Once you have confirmed your pregnancy with a pregnancy test, we recommend that you self-refer to the maternity services and see a community midwife for your booking appointment. This appointment should take place between 8 and 10 weeks of pregnancy.

You can refer yourself to deliver your baby at Medway Maritime Hospital by calling the relevant telephone number from the list below. Alternatively, you can visit your local GP or children's centre that will put you in touch with your local midwifery team. Upon making contact with the team you will be invited to an early pregnancy information session called ‘Earlybird’. This is an informal group session where the midwife will cover health eating and exercise, how and where to expect to receive your antenatal care, place of birth choices, antenatal education provided in your local area and screening and tests offered in pregnancy.

Your named midwife will then invite you to a one to one booking appointment at your local children’s centre.

Online self referral

You can refer yourself to deliver your baby at Medway Maritime Hospital by completing our online self referral form now. Alternatively, if you do not have access to a computer, you can visit your local GP or children's centre who will put you in touch with the local midwife.
