Medway Stop Smoking (Pregnancy Service)
We understand how difficult it is to stop smoking, especially when you are pregnant.
We have specialist advisers dedicated to pregnant women and their partners who would really like to help and we are an e-Cigarette friendly service.
What we can offer you
Blooming Bumps is here to support you through your pregnancy so that you and your baby get off to the best start.
Find out how to look after yourself and your baby in a relaxed and friendly group setting. Over eight weeks your Blooming Bumps advisor will go through:
- tips for bonding with your baby, even before they are born
- smoking and the impact it can have on you and your baby
- managing stress and anxiety
- eating healthily
- feeding your baby
- first aid for your baby
- looking after your baby
Emma will come and see you in the comfort of your own home and talk to you about your options. If you choose to go ahead she will arrange further visits according to your individual requirements.
Smoke Free Advice Centre
Our Advice centre is located in Railway Street Chatham and is open Monday to Saturday.
One to one appointments at venues across Medway
We have advisers in various GP surgeries, Children Centres and Pharmacies in Medway.
We offer the same specialist advisor support but without having to leave the house. Our advisors can provide free support through your smart phone, tablet or PC. So if you are pushed for time or cannot make it to one of our clinics face to face, you can book an online appointment.
Text to Quit
This free text service allows you to quit anytime….. anywhere. If you prefer texting to face-to-face conversations, then this option is for you. The messaging service will provide you with all the advice, tips and tricks you need. We will even text you voucher codes to collect any prescriptions you need to help you quit.
FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy
This is available to all pregnant smokers who come through our service.
Your Midwife will ask you to do a Carbon Monoxide reading at your first appointment. This is part of routine antenatal care for all women.
Carbon Monoxide is a toxic gas present in Car exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke and faulty gas appliances so it is a very important test.
If you are a smoker your Midwife will automatically refer you to the Stop Smoking Service and although you may not feel ready to stop smoking, we would advise you to accept a call from them before making your decision.
You will not be judged for smoking but it is our responsibility to give you the specialist information you need now that you are pregnant.
