A family fun day organised by Ann McKinnon, a Play Specialist at Medway Maritime Hospital, has raised £3,600 for charity.
Held for the third year running at Gillingham Football Club on Sunday 18 May, it was opened by children’s entertainer Mister Maker with hundreds of people in attendance. It was supported by staff at the club, Medway Maritime Hospital, Hospital Radio Medway, St John Ambulance, Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and dozens of volunteers including staff from the Spire Alexander Hospital in Chatham.

Ann McKinnon, who wanted to raise money for the children’s ward she works at, and for the Evelina London Children’s Hospital who have looked after her daughter for 18 years, said: “Once again a huge thank you to my amazing support network who helped me organise and run this event, to Phil Gallagher (Mister Maker) and to Gillingham Football Club for allowing us to use its venue.
“All their staff and my army of volunteers were amazing, working tirelessly to make this event such a success. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
Donna Law, Head of The Medway Hospital Charity, said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to support the Family Fun Day. Both hospital charities will receive an incredible £1,800 to make a difference to their patients.
“I would like to thank Ann for her continued dedication in raising money for her department. This money will help us make staying in hospital for children a calm and less anxious experience.”
