We would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to our Lead Governor, Cllr David Brake, as his term with the Trust’s Council of Governors comes to an end.
David has been an integral part of the Council of Governors since 2013, representing Medway Council as our Partner Governor. He also holds the record as our most prolific recruiter of Trust members, a title that will be hard to beat.
John Goulston, Chair of Medway NHS Foundation Trust, said: “David’s commitment and faithful service over the last 12 years – whether at public events, with staff across our wards and departments, or at Trust Board and Governor meetings – has been invaluable to us.
“David is an outstanding servant of our local community who will be greatly missed by everyone he has worked with across the Trust. On behalf of the Board and Council of Governors, I would like to sincerely thank him for this tremendous contribution and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Cllr David Brake said: “To say farewell is not an easy thing to do, especially when I will be leaving the company of so many people that I have come to know. At all levels of organisation, I have seen nothing but professionalism shown by so many, which has made me proud to be associated with you all.
“I will miss you all and take this opportunity to say thank you for the support you have given me personally, firstly as a Partner Governor and more recently as Lead Governor.”
As we say goodbye to David, we extend a warm welcome to our new Partner Governor for Medway, Cllr Teresa Murray.

Teresa has been an elected councillor on Medway Council for 25 years and while in opposition was spokesperson for Health and Adult Services before becoming Deputy Leader and Cabinet Portfolio Holder for these services in 2023. She is Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board as well as having strategic responsibility for Public Health.
Cllr Teresa Murray, said: “I add my thanks to Cllr David Brake for his outstanding contribution as a Partner Governor for 12 years and has always been supportive to the hospital. I am looking forward to joining the Council of Governors and to supporting the hospital too.”
Once again, a huge thank you to David for his outstanding contribution – and we’re excited to welcome Teresa as she begins this new role with us.
Nominations are open until 10 June for three vacancies on our Council of Governors. Two seats are for a Public Governor to represent the constituency of Medway and the other is to represent the Rest of England and Wales (anywhere outside of Medway and Swale).
