Thursday 31 July saw Medway Maritime Hospital come together with staff, patients, volunteers, and the local community for its fourth annual Summer Fun Day, organised by the Trust’s Engagement Team.
What began as a single event is now an important way the hospital engages with its community beyond patient care.

Despite the rain, visitors came out to enjoy a wide range of activities and entertainment. There was live music from Hospital Radio Medway, performances by All Star Performers, face painting, and activities led by Gillingham Girlguiding and our Research and Innovation Team – plus a special visit from Barney, one of our much-loved therapy dogs.
The event also supported three of our hospital charities: The Medway Hospital Charity, The Medway League of Friends, and The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust – all of which play an important role in supporting patients, staff, volunteers, and babies in the special care unit.
The total amount raised is still being counted – we’ll share the final amount soon.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the day such a success, and to all who attended. Your continued support is a vital part of what makes Medway such a special place.
