Update from Medway NHS Foundation Trust

Date: 18 November 2020

News update image

You may have heard in the media recently that the Trust has declared a ‘critical incident’ as a result of increased pressures at Medway Maritime Hospital; this is not correct. As part of our COVID planning we have introduced enhanced internal measures but no incident has been declared.

We want to reassure you that although we are currently very busy our services continue to operate as normal. Patient safety and delivering the best care is always our top priority and we are continuing to work closely with our health and social care partners in the community to manage this demand.

We are asking the members of our community to help by ensuring they follow Government guidelines – washing hands, wearing a mask and social distancing – to reduce the spread of COVID-19, as well as ensuring they seek advice from their GP, pharmacist or the 111 service before attending our hospital where appropriate.

Thank you once again for your support of the Trust.
