Members of the public are invited to the Trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting on Tuesday 18 October 2022.

This is your opportunity to find out what has happened at the hospital over the past year and our plans for the year ahead. You will hear about the improvements that have been made, particularly in our urgent care services which were recently rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission; also about our new improvement programme, Patient First, which is currently being rolled out across the Trust.

Our featured speaker will be Cynthia Matarutse, Associate Director of Nursing and Quality – Planned Care, on the subject of ‘Caring for Cancer Patients.’

Chief Executive Jayne Black said: “This is your chance to hear directly about what we are doing at your hospital and how we are performing. I’m delighted to say that this year’s Annual Members’ Meeting is being held in the hospital in person again for the first time since the pandemic. However we know that some people find it more convenient to join virtually, so this is an option too, for anyone who wants to hear the discussion but cannot be there in person. I look forward to welcoming you, however you choose to join us.”

The meeting will also include an update on our new improvement programme, Patient First, which launched earlier this year. This will help the Trust focus on fewer priorities which make a big impact quickly, and also help achieve lasting change over time.

Jayne Black said: “In the coming year, we expect to see Patient First truly embedded and bringing clear and noticeable improvements to patient care and the way all our teams work - not only those on the frontline who deliver healthcare directly to patients, but also those in supporting and corporate teams whose work is so vital to the overall patient experience.”

The Annual Members’ Meeting takes place in the hospital restaurant, Below Deck Dining Room (Level One, Purple Zone), at 6pm on Tuesday 18 October. You can book your place here.. Light refreshments will be available from 5:30pm.

If you would like to attend and need additional support to do so, please email met-tr.members-medway@nhs.net to discuss how we could help you.

Anyone who lives in England or Wales can become a member of the Trust. It’s easy and free to sign up and you will receive regular updates on what’s happening, an invitation to the Annual Members’ Meeting and other opportunities to get involved, and you can vote in Governor elections when they take place.  To find out more, visit our website at Membership (medway.nhs.uk)
