The Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, paid a visit to Medway Maritime Hospital and met a number of staff to hear about the impressive progress the Trust has made in improving patient safety.

While nationally there is a shortage of midwives, we’re very fortunate that we have a very strong team in our maternity unit, something that was recognised by the Care Quality Commission in their inspection last year when they rated the service ‘Outstanding’ for caring.

Thanks to the introduction of a new quality improvement programme developed by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS), eligible patients who come to A&E with gallbladder pain may now have surgery much sooner than before.
