The dermatology service is responsible for investigating, treating and managing the conditions of children and adults with skin disease. Dermatology includes a wide variety of cases in all age groups, from mild complaints to severe and life-limiting inflammatory disorders. Some of these conditions include:
- skin cancer
The dermatology team includes nurse and consultant specialists, histopathologists, plastic surgeons, oncologists (for diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer) and a consultant surgeon with an interest in sentinel node biopsy and melanoma, for the investigation of skin cancer.
Services are run from our dedicated unit which is open weekdays from 7am to 7pm. Treatments include phototherapy, photo chemotherapy, topical treatments and a comprehensive range of patch testing for patients, as well as providing educational and pastoral care.
We also offer:
- a monthly cosmetic camouflage clinic
- a psoriasis clinic
- paediatric (children’s) clinics
- a rapid access clinic for assessment and treatment of skin cancer
In addition to these services, we provide treatment for residents in Medway and the wider region, including an outreach service for people in Dartford, Maidstone, Swale and Tunbridge Wells.
