Video consultation appointments
At the moment with the current COVID-19 situation, Medway NHS Foundation Trust has to adapt to new ways of working, and looking at how it can best serve the community. With this in mind we are piloting video consultation appointments as an alternative to standard face-to-face appointments or telephone appointments. It will initially only be available to specific clinics, but will be rolled out to more clinics over the coming months.
The product that we will start using is called Attend Anywhere which is supplied by NHS England.
The Trust will contact patients to ask if they are interested in having their appointment via video consultation. Those patients who agree to have their appointments via this method will be sent details on how to log into the clinic, and which devices and web browsers can be used for the consultation.
Video consultation appointments are an alternative way that patients can still interact with the consultant, nurse, or other medical practitioner without having to travel to hospital and without the associated expense. The consultation can be taken anywhere as long as the patient has internet connectivity and a suitable device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
For best access it is recommended that the following devices, operating systems, and web browsers are used:
- Google Chrome web browser on a desktop or laptop, or on an Android tablet or smartphone
- Safari web browser on a Mac, iPad, or iPhone
