Visiting in Critical Care

Our visiting times vary between the two critical care units:

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - 12pm to 7pm

General High Dependency Unit (GHDU) - 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 7.30pm

Due to the severity of our patients illnesses, we try to offer relatives and friends as much flexibility as possible with visiting and try to tailor this to each patient’s needs.

Please understand that you may be asked to leave if your loved one requires nursing interventions so that we can maintain privacy; or if the ward round or handover is taking place so that we can ensure confidentiality is maintained for all of our patients.

Due to limited space and the need to allow staff to work around you, we restrict visitors to two by the bedside at a time.

Please do not visit if you are unwell of have any signs of infection. Our patients are very susceptible to infection so please do not put them at risk.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding visiting please do not hesitate to speak to the Nurse in Charge.

Parking

Visitors of critical care are able to claim a concessionary rate of £10.50 per seven days. Forms are available from ICU/HDU – please speak to the Nurse in Charge. Once completed, the form should then be taken to the security and car parking reception desk in the hospital’s main entrance. Please note that only one concessionary ticket will be issued per patient.
